6th Annual Artspace 111 Regional Exhibition Juried by Hilde Nelson
Congratulations to everyone, and thank you to Artspace 111 and Hilde Nelson for curating an amazing exhibition. I was in awe of the work that was selected and I am honored and thankful to be among such a great group of artists in Texas. Visit Art Space 111 to learn more about this exhibition.

This piece titled "Shadows of Home" is very important to me as it is a reflection of time, place, and memory. The corn husk paper panel represents the history of this land as a native plant, food, and cultural symbol of the Americas. It also represents my upbringing in Mexico through immigrating to the United States as I lived on each side of the border of El Paso, TX and Juarez, Chih. MX.
The projector represents this time in the 80s when this was the technology used for sharing memories through photographs. The slide is made of glass and contains an image of the border that was laser etched. The projection abstracts the image representing the imperfection of memory and the time past.
