Teaching Philosophy

My life experience as an immigrant, a non-traditional student, and a mother, has shaped my worldview to be open, inclusive, and empathetic towards others. I bring this thoughtfulness to my teaching practice, where my primary goal is to help students learn about art making and to find meaning in art. By taking an active interest in the individual, I attempt to assist each of my students in developing their creative voice and becoming independent thinkers. The teaching tools that I use in the classroom and in the museum setting are based on creative problem solving exercises, and by creating an inclusive and safe space to discuss art.
